Hawthorn premiership duo Brian Lake and David Hale have called time on their outstanding careers, that saw them both win three premierships at the Hawks.

Both starting their careers at different clubs, they've had a significant impact since joining the Hawks.

Hale joined the Hawks in 2011 after 129 games with the Kangaroos where he also kicked 119 goals, leading North Melbourne's goal-kicking in 2008 before falling out of favour with the Kangaroos in 2009 and 2010.

The ruckman was eventually traded to the Hawks in the 2010 trade period for a first round draft pick.

Brian Lake, formerly known as Brian Harris, joined the Hawks in 2013 with immediate effect.

Lake struggled during the season of 2013 but got himself fit heading into the finals, where he would eventually win a Norm Smith Medal in Hawthorn's 15 point win against the Dockers.

Lake was also a two time All-Australian in 2009 and 2010, as well as a best and fairest at the Bulldogs in 2007.
