A late Cyril Rioli goal from right on the 50m mark has given Hawthorn a dramatic 11.9 (75) to 10.10 (70) AFL win over the Sydney Swans.
Sydney held the lead throughout much of the final quarter but were unable to strike the killer blow, with even Lance Franklin hooking a set shot out on the full.
A Kieren Jack behind took the Swans lead to seven points with seven minutes left on the clock before Shaun Burgoyne goaled to cut the lead to one.
It was then all on Rioli who marked a wobbly kick and converted to give the Hawks the lead with 77 seconds to go.
The Hawks then held off a late Swans surge to go two games clear of Sydney atop the AFL ladder.
